Sunrises are on everybody's phone in Arizona. I am a plein air artist. This is an original oil painting of a sunrise painted in my backyard in Scottsdale. Sunrises come alive because I'm there.

Watercolor never ceases to amaze me with its depth. Sometimes the dark values blend into lighter tones without trying to mix a lighter color. I find the quality, from opaque to translucent, very painterly. For those of you who are interested in the Oxford languages definition of painterly, it is "characterized by qualities of color, stroke and texture rather than of line."
Mexican Bird of Paradise, 2023, print of original, 5.5" x 8", $15
